Dosage Guide
Dogs/Cats: 5-20 mg/kg PO/SC once daily. Birds: 10-20 mg/kg PO/IM twice daily. Rabbits/Rodents: 5-10 mg/kg PO twice daily. Reptiles: 5-10 mg/kg IM/PO every 24-48 hours.

Side Effects
- •High doses in cats (>5 mg/kg/day) can cause acute retinal degeneration and blindness
- •GI upset
- •Cartilage damage in growing puppies (large breeds at higher risk)
Important Warnings
- !Risk of retinal toxicity in cats — do not exceed 5 mg/kg/day
- !May cause tissue necrosis at injection sites (reptiles)
- !Avoid use in young, growing large-breed dogs when alternatives exist
- !Not for use in small mammals with penicillin-sensitive gut flora
Contraindications
Do not use this medication in the following situations:
- ✕Cats at doses >5 mg/kg/day
- ✕Concurrent use with theophylline or NSAIDs (may increase adverse effects)
- ✕Epileptic animals (lowers seizure threshold)
