Dosage Guide
Anti-inflammatory: 0.5-1 mg/kg PO daily. Immunosuppressive: 1-2 mg/kg PO twice daily. Ferrets (insulinoma): 0.5-2 mg/kg PO twice daily. Always taper dose for long-term use.

Side Effects
- •Increased thirst and urination (PU/PD)
- •Increased appetite and weight gain
- •Muscle wasting and weakness
- •GI ulceration with high doses or long-term use
- •Immunosuppression (delayed wound healing, susceptibility to infection)
- •Iatrogenic Cushing's disease with chronic use
Important Warnings
- !DO NOT combine with NSAIDs — high risk of GI ulceration
- !Always taper the dose — never stop abruptly after >7 days of use
- !Long-term use requires regular monitoring
- !Use with extreme caution in diabetic animals (antagonizes insulin)
Contraindications
Do not use this medication in the following situations:
- ✕Concurrent NSAID use
- ✕Systemic fungal infections
- ✕Active GI ulceration
- ✕Diabetes mellitus (relative contraindication)
